“LAKSHYA”- PC Controlled Robo

Lakshya was my PG Project. It was completed in June 2008. It is a robotic vehicle that can be controlled using a Personal computer. It was developed with the technical help from Esmart technologies, Kochi.DoF of this Robot is 4.Lakshya is a Robot that can be controlled by a personal computer by the means of one of the most demanding method of RF communication named as ZigBee. The basic idea behind the project is to trace remote areas where human life is hazardous. The areas of application includes industry, military, home automation etc.My major task was to control the robot via RF Communication and the choice of end effectors depends upon the user or the environment of application or wholly depends upon the designer. Here a simple electromagnet is used as the end effectors (optional). The whole system is divided into two parts.

1)     Control end

2)     Mobile end

Control end consists of a personal computer and a Transmission unit. Mobile end includes RF reception unit , motors to drive the system. End effectors , a security cam for live video pick up etc.The heart of the system is PIC microcontroller. PIC 16F73 is employed here. Another major component included in this system is the ZigBee modules that are used for communication between the two ends. Two ZigBee modules are used here. One at control end and the other at the mobile end. The Robot makes use of two DC motors and a stepper motor. DC motors are for controlling main wheels and direction of the Robot.Stepper motor is used for controlling the optional end effectors (i hav not added an end effectror now). The security cam acts as the eye of the robot, it sends the live video of everything on its front to the video display.
